Driving Results Ltd is the UK’s leading provider of vocational training within the driving instructor industry, with related businesses supplying educational and other services across the market, including the brand “RED Driving School” the leading national driving school.
RDS had a mix of systems from a wide number of different resellers. For example the telephone contract alone had 5 different providers.
They were aware that their Avaya telephony solution required an upgrade that would allow them to adopt new contact centre technology and applications, as well as other technologies such as SIP. Jon and MI Director, David Powell attended a number of 4net events to help understand what technology was available and to make better informed decisions.
It was agreed that the best solution for the business would be to upgrade their existing Avaya Communication Manager to version 7 and virtualise all the solution onto VMware. This upgrade allowed them to migrate from their legacy ISDN service to fully resilient SIP trunks.
They also migrated all their inbound numbers to 4net to save money and rationalise suppliers.
Immediate guaranteed financial benefits
The savings achieved from the upgrade and migration from ISDN to SIP and with outbound calls now free of charge (RDS was previously spending around £12,000 pa) was in excess of £21,000 pa. This £21k annual saving means RDS will pay back the cost of the whole project over 3.5 years, which includes cost of financing the capital spend.

“The company had no coherent IT strategy or structure, which added to the complexity when we came to centralise our systems and operations. We needed to become smaller, leaner, smarter and more agile.”
